TOP SPRING TRENDSFebruary 22, 2017
The trends are in from New York Fashion Week’s Spring 2017 shows, and we’ve got a good idea of what we’ll be wearing in the coming season—once we finally come out the other side of the cold weather, that is. So get ready to shed those heavy layers and welcome the light, airy, skin bearing fabrics we all love. We couldn’t be more excited about the season’s hottest fashion trends and all the fabulous pieces showcasing them from all our favorite stores. It’s time to step out of the cold, trade in your leather and velvet, and get ready to turn heads with jaw dropping florals and feminine prints. Below, see the top trends that emerged at NYFW.
Hands down, one the biggest trend to watch for Spring 2016 khaki! Many top luxury designers are showcasing the classic and universally flattering material and we are confident the look will be seen on the street soon. At Dion Lee, the timeless trench silhouette got transformed into tailored, slit-shoulder jackets and belted skirt-pants, while at Ulla Johnson and Creatures of the Wind, khaki’s sometimes-utilitarian feel was nixed by nipped waists and femme ruffles.
SHADES OF BLUE
One of the easiest colors to wear was also one of the most popular across the board this season—which should come as some relief to those need a break from black and white but aren’t quite ready to heed designers’ calls for orange as a new neutral. From the palest seafoam to the richest cerulean, blues are a tune everyone can sing. Everything from accessories to outerwear will be sporting the hottest shade of the season and we can look forward to wearing out our favorite designer pieces, since nearly all the stores at Destin Commons are carrying pieces in blue.
I know, I know: groundbreaking. But in all seriousness, the season’s florals felt fresh in their unabashed femininity, blooming up and down long, tiered skirts, ruffled jumpsuits, and voluminous sleeves. We see the free spirits appear on the Lela Rose runway, alongside the prairie dresses from Tanya Taylor, and the gorgeous designs from Tibi. So don’t retire last year’s bohemian pieces just yet! Integrate them into your look by mixing florals and touches of bohemian, for a very fun on-trend outfit.
Bold, bright, and brilliantly textured, spring’s stripes are a jolt of energy in a sea of classic Bretons. And while they came in all shades of the rainbow this season, our favorites were those that featured our features color of the season, blue anchored down with some bright white. Stripes can make any piece look fresh and ready for warmer weather, particularly when they are created with soft fabrics like cotton and linen.
Kick off those boots and hang up those jackets, Spring is in the air and it’s time to refresh your wardrobe. Destin Commons is ready, are you?
