We are here to celebrate Old Glory and help you throw an Independence Day BBQ that will leave your friends and family dazzled! Destin Commons has looked to the food experts at The Spice & Tea Exchange and Whole Foods Market to uncover some mouthwatering and crowd pleasing recipes that you need to try.

  1. Buffalo Bleu Sliders- These sliders are perfect with ground beef, turkey, or chicken and will have guests lining up for more!

Ingredients from The Spice & Tea Exchange

  • 1 ½ TBS Onion Obsession Spice Blend
  • 2 TBS Buffalo Bleu Dip Mix

Ingredients from Whole Foods Market

  • 1 lb. of ground beef, turkey or chicken
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup oatmeal
  • 1 TBS milk
  • Mini slider buns
  • Let the eating extravaganza begin! These All-American recipes are sure to steal the show at your 4th of July cookout.
  • Garnishes: cheese, lettuce, pickles, mayonnaise, relish, mustard

Preparation

  • Mix spices from The Spice & Tea Exchange into the ground meat.
  • Lightly beat the egg in a small dish and work in the ground meat with oatmeal and milk. Continue to mix until well combined.
  • Refrigerate mixture for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Shape into small patties.
  • Grill or pan fry patties until done to your liking. Remove from heat and serve.
  1. Bacon Wrapped Corn- This is proof that everything really is better with bacon!

  • 1 TBS Cinnabar Smoke Spice Blend
  • 1 TBS Light Chili Powder

Ingredients from Whole Foods Market

  • 8 ears of corn, husked and cleaned
  • 1 lb. bacon

Preparation

  • Preheat grill to medium heat.
  • Use two slices of bacon (overlapping on one end) to wrap one ear of corn from one end to the other, or cut the ears in half and use one slice of bacon to wrap.
  • Mix Cinnabar Smoke Spice Blend and Light Chili Powder and sprinkle evenly over the ear of bacon wrapped corn.
  • Wrap the corn in aluminum foil and place on the heated grill. Grill for 15 to 30 minutes (or until bacon is fully cooked and crispy), turning every 5 minutes.
  • Remove foil and serve.

  • ¼ cup Ginger Sugar
  • 2 tsp Baker’s Spice Blend
  • 2 tsp Vanilla Madagascar Pure Extract
  • 3 TBS Coconut Flower Powder, divided
  • 6 TBS Raspberry Sugar

Ingredients from Whole Foods Market

  • 3 sleeves of graham crackers
  • 2 sticks of butter, melted
  • 3- 8 ounce packages of cream cheese, softened
  • 14 oz. sweetened condensed milk
  • ½ cup of lemon juice
  • 15 to 20 medium strawberries
  • 1 pint raspberries
  • ½ pint blueberries

Preparation

  • Crush the graham crackers into fine crumbs. Mix the crumbs together with the Ginger Sugar, Baker’s Spice Blend and melted butter.
  • Press mixture firmly into a 9” x 13” dish. Freeze for 15 minutes.
  • Beat cream cheese on medium high for 2 minutes. Beat in sweetened condensed milk, lemon juice, and Vanilla Madagascar Pure Extract until smooth.
  • Spread into prepared crust. Refrigerate while cutting up fruit.
  • Slice strawberries into vertical slices. Roll raspberries in the (2 TBS) Coconut Flake Powder. Place berries on the crust to resemble the American flag. Refrigerate for 3 hours.
  • An hour before serving, sprinkle the Raspberry Sugar on the “blue” square of the cake and onto the strawberries.
  • Garnish the blue area with 5 strawberry slices arranged in a star pattern.
  • Sprinkle the star with remaining Coconut Flake Powder.
  1. Watermelon Pizza- Because no 4th of July celebration is complete without watermelon!

Ingredients from Whole Foods Market

  • ½ cup ricotta cheese
  • ¼ cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 TBS honey
  • ½ tsp vanilla
  • Watermelon, slice into 1” thick
  • Fresh berries
  • Fresh mint
  • Toasted coconut

Preparation

  • In a small bowl, mix ricotta cheese, cream cheese, honey, and vanilla until well combined.
  • Spread mixture onto slice of watermelon. Top with berries, mint, and toasted coconut.
