Destin Commons’ makes $10,000 Coins For A Cause donation to MKAF

Staff and members of the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation (MKAF) board of directors gathered at their Cultural Arts Village to receive a $10,000 donation from Destin Commons to benefit MKAF’s All Kinds of Art initiative.

The donation was made through Destin Commons’ Coins For A Cause program which was created to help benefit local charities with the monies collected from the Center’s parking meters. It’s a win-win because shoppers can enjoy the convenience of parking right in front of the stores, while local charities enjoy the benefit of donations made to their respective causes related to issues such as health, disabilities, education, the arts and children’s well-being. Coins For A Cause has donated over $1 million to area charities since its inception 10 years ago.

“With a major focus on giving back to the community, we have supported MKAF and their many excellent community initiatives for the arts over the years,” saod Heather Pike, Destin Commons’ marketing manager. “It is our pleasure to be able to donate $10,000 via Destin Commons’ Coins for A Cause program earmarked for MKAF’s All Kinds of Art for kids. As we like to say, ‘changing lives, one coin at a time’, best describes our parking meter program.”
All Kinds of Art is the educational outreach programming component of the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation. Through All Kinds of Art, MKAF facilitates and funds meaningful cultural experiences in K-12 schools and community organizations in Okaloosa and Walton Counties.

MKAF Education Director Melanie Moore said, “Destin Commons has been a long-standing community partner supporting MKAF and All Kinds of Art. Their generous donation enables us to strengthen our All Kinds of Art outreach programs to empower youth through arts and cultural experiences.”
