First quarter Coins For A Cause donations from Destin Commons tally up to $4,892.25 to five area charities

Destin, FL (April 3, 2018)…It was a successful first quarter of 2018 for area charities receiving donations from Destin Commons. The outdoor lifestyle center’s Coins For A Cause (CFAC) initiative gave $4,892.25 to five charities.

The State of Florida’s Distinguished Young Women’s Program received $1,000 from CFAC towards the program’s prestigious scholarship program. Destin Commons also hosted an arrival ceremony at the center for the young women from all of the State of Florida.

The Destin Chamber of Commerce’s Destin Forward class received $592.25 from CFAC in support of their class project, the beautification of the Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village in Destin.

Another $2,500 from CFAC was given to the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation for the non-profit’s Community Outreach programming to K-12 schools, Warrior Arts, and Arts for All Abilities for adults and children with special needs.

CFAC gave a $300 gift card for the All Sports Association at their Annual Banquet that raises funds to support scholarships for exceptional student athletes.

The Junior League of the Emerald Coast received a $500 donation from CFAC. They won their donation through a social media contest in support of their children’s clothing project.

Not only does Destin Commons make monetary donations, they also enable the usage of center free of charge. In the first quarter, the Fort Walton Beach Chamber’s Kings of the Court event was held at the outdoor lifestyle center. The event raised $6,000 to benefit One Hopeful Place, a homeless shelter, and Impact Emerald Coast, a youth mentorship program.

Destin Commons also utilizes their on-site, digital and print platforms to share the missions of their partner organizations, and many fundraising efforts. As well, a number of staff members serve on various boards of directors for area non-profit organizations the center works with.

CFAC was created to benefit local charities with the monies collected from the center’s parking meters. Shoppers enjoy the convenience of parking in front of the stores, while local charities enjoy the benefit of donations made to their causes related to issues such as health, disabilities, education, the arts, wounded warriors, and children’s well-being. Coins For A Cause has donated over $1.2 million to area charities since its inception ten years ago.

Award-winning Destin Commons continues to set the standard as Northwest Florida’s premier open-air lifestyle center. Set on 56 acres, the architecturally unique property features more than 100 stores and restaurants offering shopping, dining and entertainment, including Bass Pro Shops, Belk, H&M, Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl & Grill, and AMC Destin, a 14-screen stadium style movie theatre.
