Mouthwatering Game-day Recipes

Are you ready for some football?

If you are like most Southerners, then the answer is an overwhelming YES. On any given Saturday in fall, you might find yourself at a tailgating outside the stadium right before your favorite team plays, hosting or attending a viewing party, or simply cozied up on your couch watching the big game. However, no matter where you are there is one thing that you will need. Great football food! In addition, we have some mouthwatering recipes.

No game is complete without a great Bloody Mary and Bacon-Wrapped Jalapeno Poppers. Our friends at Spice & Tea Exchange have shared two recipes that are sure to please even the toughest critic.

Classic Bloody Mary:

From The Spice & Tea Exchange you will need Bloody Mary Spice Blend and Cyprus White Sea Salt. Other items needed from the grocer are tomato juice and vodka. This classic recipe is simple to follow.

¼ Cup Cyprus White Sea Salt

4 tsp Bloody Mary Spice Blend

32 oz. tomato juice (to taste)

6 oz. vodka

Optional garnishes

Instructions: Pour a small amount of tomato juice in a shallow dish. Place Cyprus White Sea Salt in a separate shallow dish. Dip the rim of each glass in the tomato juice, then dip and twist the glass rim into the Cyprus White Sea Salt. Shake off excess salt. Set aside the glasses until ready to serve. Next, combine the vodka, tomato juice, and Bloody Mary Spice Blend. Pour into glasses and add ice and garnishes of your choosing.

Bacon-Wrapped Jalapeno Popper:

Everything is better when wrapped in bacon! These are great for entertaining as they can be made ahead.

4 ¼ TBS Blue Cheese Powder (The Spice & Tea Exchange)

2 TBS Habanero Sugar (The Spice & Tea Exchange)

8 oz. cream cheese

12 jalapenos, halved and seeded

12 oz. package of bacon, slices cut in half

Instructions: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Mix the Blue Cheese Powder with 2 tablespoons of water to a creamy consistency. Then mix in the softened cream cheese. Scoop the cheese mixture into the halved jalapenos. Wrap the jalapenos with a halved slice of bacon and place on a baking pan. Sprinkle with the Habanero Sugar. Bake for 30 minutes or until the bacon is crisp.

Now you are ready to cheer your team to victory! Not to mention the hit you will be with your friends and family for these delicious treats.
