It’s Event Time at Destin Commons

Here in the South, there are few things that we enjoy more than crispy bacon and friendly competition. During September, we invite you to come out and enjoy both right here at Destin Commons as we host two events that go to benefit two wonderful organizations. That’s right, Destin Commons is hosting the inaugural Makin’ Bacon 4 Beds event and the 4th annual Destin Charity Cornhole Tournament.

Makin’ Bacon 4 Beds

Come on out and join us Saturday, September 7th from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM for Makin’ Bacon 4 Beds. All proceeds will go to benefit A Bed 4 Me Foundation, which works to give beds to local children who would otherwise be sleeping in inadequate spaces. Sleep is essential for our general well-being and especially for a child’s development, health, and academic performance. Please visit their website to learn more about their mission and how you can help.

During Makin’ Bacon 4 Beds, local restaurants will compete to take home the People’s Choice award with their bacon-inspired dishes and drinks. Our very own Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen and World of Beer will be competing. Samples are just $1 each and we cannot wait to try all the delicious bacon dishes! Bacon makes everything better, right?

While you are enjoying the bacon tastings, you will be entertained by the musical talents of Hollard as they play old school and new age live music. Don’t forget to enter for your chance to win $10,000, sponsored by Rhonda Faulk of Certainty Home Loans. You can also participate in the silent auction by bidding on repurposed headboards painted by local artists and check out the various craft vendors. This is event is sure to become a local favorite!

Destin Charity Cornhole Tournament

Love a great match of Cornhole? Head over to Destin Commons on Sunday, September 29th at 12:00 PM for the 4th annual Destin Charity Cornhole Tournament! This event benefits the Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center, which fights to prevent child abuse and neglect, protect children, and restore the lives and futures of impacted children. Visit their website to learn more and see how you can help!

This cornhole tournament is a double-elimination tournament that is limited to 100 teams, so early registration is required. There’s a chance to win $750 in cash & prizes and each team will receive a swag bag with event t-shirts, coupons, and other goodies. Upon registration, contestants will be granted access to the World of Beer and Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen Beer Garden! That will get you bottomless craft beer, lemonade, sweet tea, and appetizers throughout the event. Appetizers include Paula Deen’s famous fried okra, fried chicken, mac and cheese, and Ooey Gooey Butter Cake.

Not playing the game? Cornhole is just as entertaining when you are a spectator, so grab your Beer Garden wristband for just $30 and enjoy it! Then stop by and bid on the one-of-a-kind cornhole board sets painted by local artists. The artists include Christa Bass, Estelle Grengs, Kathryn Guidry, Velia Lala, and Alexis Poff!

September is an exciting month here at Destin Commons. Mark your calendars, enjoy the festivities and feel great about the organizations you will be supporting. Help make a difference in the lives of local children!
