FALL TREND REPORTAugust 9, 2016
Summer is almost over and Fall 2016 is creeping up on us so much faster than we expected. We couldn’t be more excited about cool air, football season, and our personal favorite- Fashion! We’ve sorted through the absolute best from Fashion Week and are bringing you the top style trends for Fall. Whether you’re looking to channel your inner punk or prefer to keep things simple, our fashion experts are showcasing the season’s hottest trends to add inspiration to your wardrobe for Fall 2016. One thing is for sure, designers gave a major throwback to the absolute best of the ‘90s and we can pretty much guarantee you’ll be surprised to see what the major trends of the season will be.
Trend: Pumpkin Spice
Your obsession with Starbucks’ epic Pumpkin Spice Latte just went to the next level. Nearly every collection at Fashion Week featured the muted orange color—and it looked flattering on tons of different skin tones. You might be wondering, ‘How does one wear pumpkin exactly?’, well a good attitude and a desire to stand out will really help but we recommend pairing pumpkin shades with a calm navy blue, rich chocolate brown, army green, or stay safe with black.
Trend: Metal Details
Tethered, Tied, and Linked! The gothic trend of 2015 has evolved into a more subtle yet equally bold punk style. Get ready see chains, studs, corsets, and even metal link accents lining store fronts this season. We suggest that you try to avoid pairing too many studded pieces and stick to 1 or 2 pieces at a time, this will add a little attitude to your look without the risk of looking like Edward Scissorhands long lost cousin.
Trend: Patch Denim
The fashion faux-pas of the decade is back and we just can’t get enough! That’s right- mixing and matching denim is one of the major trends for fall 2016. Layer dark and light shades of denim for a nice contrast or add a denim accessory for a more subtle approach to the reconstructed denim craze that took over Fall Fashion Week’s runways. Any way you might think to add it to your outfit, you really can’t go wrong! Denim has always been such a major component of our everyday-wear that this is definitely one of the easier trends to try this season.
We know, it’s a lot to take in! Get ready to resurrect all the Velvets, Patent Leather, and Fur pieces that are buried deep in your closet from the 90’s because they are back and in full force! One theme is certain for the new season, have fun and get a little adventurous with your style. Don’t discredit the lavish and eccentric styles of Fall Fashion Week just yet, get creative and find subtle and unique ways to work these show stopping trends into your day to day looks- whether it’s pairing jeans with velvet booties or incorporating plaid into your workwear style. Other big players for the Fall season are bold logoed sweats from the ‘90s, bohemian inspired floral maxi dresses inspired by Coachella, and the ’90s plaid mini-skirt suit popularized by Cher and Dionne in Clueless is “like totally” back.
